Hovik Abrahamyan sums up his working visit to Minsk

Following the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan answered the journalists’ questions. Summing up the outcome of his working visit in a briefing with reporters, Hovik Abrahamyan found it productive and noted the importance of meetings in a similar format, which allows the heads of government to discuss many questions.

Hovik Abrahamyan provided details of his meetings with the Prime Ministers of Belarus and Russia. “With the Prime Minister of Belarus, we discussed issues of activating our cooperation in various areas, including the launch of a tractor-producing plant in Armenia, and taking the opportunity, I invited Mikhail Myasnikovich to Armenia. We agreed that he would be visiting our country in September-October,” Hovik Abrahamyan said.

During the meeting with Dmitry Medvedev, apart from discussing Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and the Eurasian Economic Union, the parties made a number of arrangements.

“The Russian Federation is helping us to quickly join the Eurasian Union, and we do not have any fundamental differences. We have agreed on a loan of USD 300 million to provide for NPP upgrades. We also agreed to actively cooperate in the matter of armaments,” the Prime Minister added.

Hovik Abrahamyan further advised that with Dmitry Medvedev they had touched upon the possibility of organizing reciprocated official visits. “I would like to note that we used to have contacts at a time when Mr Medvedev and I were vice prime ministers. I am convinced that our relations will help our governments work even more effectively,” Hovik Abrahamyan concluded.

Later today the Prime Minister-led government delegation will be back to Yerevan.
