Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan today has received Russian Federation President's Plenipotentiary Representative to Southern Federal District of Russia Dmitry Kozak.
Appreciative of the current level of the Armenian-Russian political and economic relationship, witnessed by the celebrations of the Year of Russia in Armenia and the start in 2006 of the Year of Armenia in Russia, the Prime minister has expressed confidence that this visit of the delegation of Southern Federal District Russian Federation to our country would give a strong stimulus to the further deepening of cooperation of two countries in various spheres.
During conversation, the parties emphasized the importance of stimulation of mutually advantageous bilateral cooperation between different administrative subjects of Armenia and Russia, in particular with the administrative entities of the Southern Federal District, account taken of both their geographical affinity to Armenia and the presence of a numerous Armenian community. Andranik Margaryan emphasized that in the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation not only questions of cooperation of the governments of two countries, but also opportunities of development of productive cooperation at the level of administrative subjects were discussed on a regular basis.
Noting that the first local action under the Year of Armenia in Russia was held in Rostov region, Andranik Margaryan thanked Governor of Rostov Region Vladimir Chub for the warm reception rendered to delegation of Republic Armenia, for due preparation and successful implementation of said action. He expressed confidence that planned to carrying out within the framework of one Year of Armenia in Russia in 2006 days of Armenia in the Astrakhan area in June and in Krasnodar territory in August, also will pass successfully, promoting development between two countries multilateral and direct communications. Interlocutors have emphasized, that stimulation of this cooperation can be promoted essentially by improvement of the transport message between two countries, in particular, operation on a regular basis of a railway ferry Poti-caucasus and renewal of movement on the Abkhazian site of the Georgian railway that would help increase the volume of commodity circulation. Andranik Margaryan and Dmitry Kozak expressed confidence that carrying out in 2006 of Year of Armenia in Russia also becomes new stimulus for development of the Armenian-Russian cooperation in spheres of a science, education, culture, sports and in other areas.
During the meeting, the head of the Armenian government expressed concern in connection with recent display of racial intolerance and murders of Armenians committed in the Russia. He expressed confidence that the Russian authorities inclusive of those of individual administrative subjects would undertake serious steps to prosecute those guilty and to prevent similar cases in future. Having expressed concern at the specified cases and condemning them, Plenipotentiary of the President of Russian Federation Dmitry Kozak assured Republic of Armenia Prime Minister that they were not directed against Armenians, and the authorities of Russia did their best to disclose and prevent similar crimes, since as he said, in the Russian Federation inclusive of the Southern Federal District, the Armenian community enjoyed favorable treatment on the part of local authorities and population with its representatives participating actively in the political and economic life of Russia.
