Prime Minister Reviews Gyumri Technology Center Projects
As part of his working visit to Shirak Marz of Armenia, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited the Gyumri Technology Center, which was co-founded by the Government of the Republic of Armenia, the Enterprise Incubator Foundation and the World Bank.
The head of government toured the center, calling at the engineering and multimedia laboratories, computer classrooms. Hovik Abrahamyan got familiar with the center’s ongoing and upcoming projects.
The Premier was briefed on the SME and start-up business clean technology program, which is administered by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization with the support of the Global Environment Fund. It is the only clean technology project implemented in Armenia in cooperation with Silicon Valley’s largest Cleantech Open accelerator.
A tender of best business ideas was announced under the program in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, energy generation and waste water management. The winner will get the chance to participate in the Cleantech Open-organized Silicon Valley Business Conference.
The head of government next inspected the former building of G. Gulbenkian Surgical Hospital with the purpose of examining the premises from the perspective of rational allocation of government departments and accessibility of public services.
The Prime Minister’s daylong journey to Shirak Marz was finalized with a consultation held in the Office of Marz Governor, during which Hovik Abrahamyan summarized his visit and issued relevant instructions to the heads of agencies responsible.
