PM attends opening of Golden Apricot 11th international film festival
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended the opening ceremony of Golden Apricot 11th international film festival at the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater after Alexander Spendiaryan.
Welcoming the participants on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and himself, Hovik Abrahamian emphasized that the festival has become a long-awaited and important cultural event.
“The Festival is growing in recognition and prestige from year to year. During all these years, over 2,000 filmmakers and critics arrived in Armenia from over 120 countries of the world. It has turned into a holiday festival. The motto is “Crossroads of civilizations and cultures.” It accurately reflects the geopolitical situation of Armenia and Armenia’s history with its problems and challenges. It suggests that all the way through its centuries-long evolution, Armenia has been in favor of intercultural dialogue, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence among peoples, focusing on the man with his concerns and destiny. It is just in this context that I want to highlight Golden Apricot’s role and importance,” the Prime Minister said.
According to the Head of Government, the fact that this year’s festival is dedicated to the 90th anniversary of famous film director Sergey Parajanov is a great honor and a binding factor for all of us.
Hovik Abrahamyan expressed confidence that the organizers will spare no effort and energy to properly present the outstanding filmmaker’s artistic legacy.
“Dear attendees,
Hospitality and cordiality have always been inherent in our country and our people. I am convinced that you are provided with all the necessary conditions to learn about Armenia’s rich culture and national traditions and feel the hospitality of our people,” the Premier said and wished success to the festival.”
In turn, Golden Apricot’s general director, film director Harutyun Khachatryan thanked the Prime Minister for all-out support and cooperation.
