“Baze - 2014” Pan-Armenian Youth Gathering Kicks Off In Tsakhkadzor
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan attended the opening of “Baze - 2014” annual pan-Armenian youth gathering in Tsakhkadzor (Kotayk Marz).
Complimenting those present on the occasion, the Prime Minister noted, “”Baze” youth camp is based on the noble idea of holy triple union of the Armenian nation, which implies promoting patriotism through cohesion, preserving traditions, identifying and developing young people’s skills. Throughout its 12 years-long history, “Baze” has managed to bring together over 8,000 young people from Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora, growing into a youth movement of its own kind.”
In the Premier’s words, the generation of independence has been the driving force of society and the pledge for enhanced security and strengthened statehood. They are promoting Armenia’s international prestige.
“You are doing it with a keen sense of national identity and with a high spirit of patriotism. A vivid proof of it was our soldiers’ response to the enemy’s provocations in the frontline a few days ago. Today, I can state with all confidence that our country’s future is in reliable hands,” the Prime Minister underscored.
Hovik Abrahamyan said that youth issues are kept in spotlight by the government, and his government will continue implementing comprehensive youth programs nationwide.
Following the opening ceremony, the head of government talked to the campers, answering a number of issues of concern to the youth that were related to the government’s economic policy, agriculture, proportionate territorial development, State support to border communities, including educational programs, government-society cooperation, as well as the preparations for the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
Hosted by the Youth Foundation of Armenia, “Baze” annual youth gathering is due on August 18-24 this year, involving around 500 young people of 18-30 years from Armenia, Artsakh and Diaspora. Mobilized in the fronts symbolizing the colors of the Armenia’s national flag, 45 squads will be competing in different categories comprising intellectual, cultural, and military games.
During the 7 days of camping, the participants will meet with public, political and cultural figures in Armenia. This year, for the first time a standalone unit of non-governmental organizations has been formed. By the way, the participants’ T-shirts feature a flower of forget-me-not, which is the emblem of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
