PM Receives Delegation Led by IMF Armenia Mission Head

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation led by International Monetary Fund (IMF) Armenia Mission Head Mark Horton. The sides discussed bilateral cooperation and main directions of Armenia’s economic policy and development trends.

Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the Government is working to improve the business climate, combat black economy, fight corruption and reduce poverty in the country. Noting that institutional reform is the key to enhanced economic growth, the Premier said his government will be consistent in the furtherance of institutional reforms.

Pleased with Armenia’s performance in the first stage of the new IMF-approved 3-year program for our country, Mark Horton underscored that the planned activities are proceeding successfully and with no impediments whatsoever.

Down to economic development trends, Mark Horton pointed to Armenia’s achievements in aviation and agriculture, which are the result of the new Cabinet’s policy.

At the same time, Mr. Horton emphasized that the IMF stands ready to provide additional assistance, if necessary, for the Government to defy challenges in the implementation of the projected reforms.

The interlocutors took the time to talk about the Government’s priorities, fiscal and monetary policies, tax and customs administration and other bilateral cooperation-related issues.
