Yury Javadyan Elected Reforestation Fund Executive Director



Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the Governing Council of Armenia’s Reforestation Fund (RFA) Board of Trustees met today in the Office of Government.

After holding a minute of silence in tribute of former Executive Director Vladimir Movsisyan, the Board approved Yury Javadyan to the post of RFA executive director with an absolute majority of votes. Ph.D. Yury Javadyan is the head of Hayjrnakhagits CJSC and the deputy chairman of the Committee on Lake Sevan Problems.

Congratulating Mr Javadyan on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Hovik Abrahamyan wished him fruitful work and expressed the hope that he his professional skills and experience will give new impetus to the activities of the Fund.

Thankful for confidence, Yuri Javadyan assured that he will make every effort to promote the process of reforestation in Armenia. The meeting discussed issues concerning the preservation and restoration of forests and the fight against illegal logging in woodland communities.

The head of government instructed the heads of responsible departments to ensure strict control and rule out incidences of illegal logging, as well as to submit proposals on the provision of heating in woodland communities.

In conclusion, the meeting discussed a series of organizational issues.
