Economic Activities of Large Companies Being Monitored






A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.

Before proceeding to the agenda, as proposed by the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition of the Republic of Armenia presented the findings of the study carried out on a rise in price of goods, having concluded that the rise in prices is adequate to the change dram’s exchange rate.

Guided by Article 70 of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, the Government invited the Chairman of the National Assembly to convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly December 15, 2014 at 12:00 to discuss over 30 items, including 8 international treaties, draft laws relating to Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, a number of other issues.

The Government approved a licensing procedure for passenger taxi services and the form of the license. The action of a new order applies to all organizations (regardless of the legal form), individual entrepreneurs and individuals.

According to Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the new form of licenses and the amended licensing procedure will improve the work in this sphere to provide citizens with quality services. At the same time, the licensing process will be simplified resulting in reduced corruption risks.

By amending a previous resolution, the Cabinet decided that as of January 1, 2015 the amount of extra allowances for those scientists involved in State budget-funded research and engineering activities will be as follows: Doctor’s degree - 50,000 drams (instead of 20 thousand drams) , PhD - 25 thousand drams (instead of 10 thousand drams). The amendment shall benefit 700 doctors and 2,200 PhDs.

The government approved the official program of Armenia’'s participation in the Expo Milan – 2015 World Exhibition and the schedule of events. Entitled “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life,” the exhibition will be held in the Italian city of Milan, from May 1 to October 31, 2015.

The Government approved a draft law on amendments to the law On State Duty, which proposes to exempt the passengers flying from Shirak airport in Gyumri from court fees, which will encourage growth of passenger traffic. As noted by the Head of Government, this will enhance the efficiency of the Gyumri airport.

The Government accepted the proposal to sign the Agreement between the Governments of the Republic of Armenia and Georgia to build a new bridge across the River Debed in the territory of Sadakhlo-Bagratashen checkpoint on the State border between the Republic of Armenia and Georgia.

In conclusion, the meeting approved a draft presidential decree on the release of Armen Gevorgyan as a member of the CIS Economic Council and the appointment of Vache Gabrielyan as a member of the CIS Economic Council.
