PM Receives Fair Traders
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received the fair traders who had been staging a protest action in front of the Government building.
Thankful for reception, the SME representatives presented their concerns regarding the amendments to the law on turnover tax, effective from February 1, 2015.
The head of government said that in approving the amendments, the government sought to facilitate the operations of small and medium-size enterprises so that they might promote economic growth.
Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that the government will not take any step against the stakeholders’ interest. At the same time, the Premier pointed out that based on the proposals formulated by the SMEs in the course of the preceding year the government passed relevant decisions to facilitate the application of the law.
During the exchange of opinions that followed, the representatives of corresponding government agencies responded to questions and presented their own arguments.
The tradesmen took the opportunity to submit new proposals concerning the law on turnover tax. In particular, they suggested that the law should be optional for application, a higher threshold should be established and the tax authority should be allowed limited number of checks.
The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry of Finance to follow up on the proposals submitted by those traders engaged in jewelry and find appropriate solutions.
Summarizing the meeting, Hovik Abrahamyan assured that the government was going to discuss the proposals in every detail and that society would be notified of the outcome in the near future.
