PM Visits Astra Crystals Company
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited today synthetic mono-crystalline sapphire producer Astra Crystals Company, which is a modern high-tech enterprise whose products are used in electronics, optoelectronics, precision engineering, jewelry and other fields.
The head of government toured the workshops and the lab, observing the synthetic sapphire-growing process, the company’s output capacity, their upcoming projects and expansion prospects.
The Premier was told that only 10 countries in the world have mastered the synthetic sapphire production technology, including Armenia. It was emphasized that the development of innovative technologies for the production of synthetic sapphire can be promising for Armenia, since the amount of synthetic sapphire used in light-emitting diodes, Smart phones and watch screens is growing worldwide.
As part of their investment program, the Company was said intent to build up the stock of their crystal-growing equipment up to 40 units from the current 11, set up a processing unit and launch the production of raw materials.
