Hovik Abrahamyan Receives Delegation Headed by Johannes Hahn




Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation headed by Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations.

Welcoming the guests, Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the importance of development and expansion of cooperation between Armenia and the European Union. The Prime Minister said that our country is willing and ready to boost cooperation with the European Union from the perspective of ensuring the continuity of reforms, expanding trade and economic ties, improving the business environment, providing for good governance, democracy, human rights and in other areas.

Johannes Hahn stressed that the European Union is interested in the deepening and strengthening of relations with Armenia, and expressed the hope that his visit will give new impetus to bilateral cooperation. Stressing that Armenia has made serious progress in human rights, democracy and freedom of speech, the EU Commissioner pointed to the importance of implementing the planned projects in these areas.

Johannes Hahn expressed confidence that the EU and Armenia will continue to carry out several mutually beneficial programs in future as well.

The parties exchanged views on the activities aimed at shaping the new agenda of Armenia-EU relations, furthering cooperation in the energy sector, agriculture, infrastructure, aviation, as well as the possibilities of EU entry visa regime liberalization.

The sides also touched upon other issues of mutual interest.
