Veterans’ Honorary Benefit to Double
A Cabinet sitting was held today, chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan.
On the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Government decided to increase the size of the monthly honorary benefit for 1100 Great Patriotic War veterans to AMD50 thousand from 25 thousand as of May 1, 2015.
Originally, the draft implied a rise to AMD40 thousand in the size of honorary benefits. In the meantime, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan suggested that the amount of the honorary benefit should be doubled up to AMD50 thousand on the eve of Great Patriotic War 70th anniversary, considering our veterans' great services to the country. The Premier’s proposal was accepted without objection.
The Government approved the operating rules of cash registers and the requirements for the embedded tapes. The decision was necessitated by the fact that until the deadline of January 1, 2016, when a new generation of cash registers is to be introduced, the old ones will remain in application.
The Government amended one of its previous decisions to finalize the applicable legal mechanisms and tools in order to set priorities based on the existing resources to provide sustainable employment opportunities for the unemployed across the country, including the self-employment.
The Government next decided to establish “Karen Demirchyan Sports Complex” SNCO.
7 million drams were allocated to implement school canteen major repairs in Khndzorut village of Vayots-Dzor Marz. This will allow the school to be included in the Sustainable School Catering program.
The Government agreed to the proposal on signing Protocol 2 on amendments to the Protocol between the governments of Armenia and Russia on Russian military base distribution in the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
According to the document, the Russian side will be provided the site of the Russian church at Lalayan Street in Gyumri, which was built in 1910, and is now partly used, as well as another site for construction of a spiritual and cultural center. The Center may also be attended by the local population.
The meeting agreed to the proposal on concluding an arrangement between the governments of Armenia and Russia on the provision of technical assistance to the Republic of Armenia as part of the process of accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
Under the agreement, the Russian side envisages in particular to provide USD 47 million (or its equivalent in rubles) and 130 million rubles over a period of three years, starting in 2015, with a view to helping Armenia comply with the commitments assumed in the framework of the accession agreement.
The funds will be used to provide facilities, equipment and software necessary for the smooth operation of appropriate services. At the same time, the Russian side will provide training and qualification enhancement facilities to the representatives of Armenia.
