GoA, IFC Discuss Cooperation Expansion Issues
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received a delegation led by International Finance Corporation Vice President Karin Finkelston.
Pleased with the ongoing effective cooperation between the Government of Armenia and the International Finance Corporation, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that Mrs. Finkelston’s visit would promote and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
Hovik Abrahamyan thanked the IFC Vice President for the projects implemented in our country, which have gone a long way toward boosting and developing Armenia’s economy. The head of government stressed the importance of programs aimed at improving the business environment, supporting the financial sector, as well as the implementation of inspection reform. In turn, Karin Finkelston said to be pleased with Armenia’s program performance, noting that there are no problems in this respect.
The IFC Vice President described as quite impressive the joint effort aimed at improving the business environment. Karin Finkelston noted that the Corporation is ready to expand its involvement in agriculture, industry, infrastructure, innovative technologies and render all the necessary assistance to the Government of Armenia in order to meet the challenges ahead.
At the same time, Karin Finkelston hailed the joint policy of the Government and the Central Bank to promote economic stability in the country.
The parties went on to discuss the prospects of cooperation between the Armenia Development Fund and the IFC, as well as cooperation in food security and other areas.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan thanked outgoing IFC Director Thomas Lubeck for effective cooperation and congratulated newly appointed Regional Director Ian Van Bilsen for appointment to that office of high responsibility.
