Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan's Congratulatory Message on Constitution Day
Dear Compatriots,
I am congratulating you on the Day of Constitution. Constitutions have invaluable significance and importance to any people and country. In view of the above, the process of constitution design was initiated from the very first days of independence and, based on the basic principles of the Armenian statehood and our national goals, this fundamental instrument was adopted through a nationwide referendum as early as in 1995.
Having met its main purpose and the mission set for the past decade, the organic law of the country certainly helped bring to life the basic principles proclaimed by the newly independent Republic of Armenia. In difficult for our people times it has evidenced a strong capacity of becoming the pledge of stability and lawfulness in the country.
Adopted last year in an effort to further develop our State in line with today's requirements, the constitutional reforms imply considerable and radical changes to domestic legislation and, ever since, both the executive and legislative authorities have been making active efforts to this end.
I am confident that in the future, too, the Constitution will be the main pledge for our State's continued progress and strengthened sovereignty.
