PM congratulates, awards Great Patriotic War Veterans
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan hosted the Veterans of the Great Patriotic War in the Office of Government and congratulated them on the 70th anniversary of the Victory.
Based on the decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State of October 23, 2013 “On uniform Jubilee Award established on the 70th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945,” as well as the Republic of Armenia Prime Minister’s decree No 214-A dated March 19, 2015 “On establishment of a jubilee commission,” Head of Jubilee Commission, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan awarded the Jubilee Medal of 70th anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War if 1941-1945 the following veterans: Petros Petrosyan, Rosalia Abgaryan, Anik Papyan, Artush Mkrtchyan, Rafik Nikoghosian, Mihran Grigoryan, Gerasim Harutyunyan, Haikaz Yeranosyan, Meruzhan Soghomonyan, Sophia Sargsyan, Yebraxia Mikaelyan, Žhora Tunyan, Mnatsakan Grigoryan, Beniamin Mirzoyan, Sos Movsesyan, Khachik Gevorgyan, Suren Karapetian, Sargis Harutyunyan, Husik Panosyan and Seryozha Davtyan.
The Head of Government presented the commemorative medals to the veterans, wishing them robust health and delivered a congratulatory speech. Hovik Abrahamyan stressed that the Armenian people would never forget the exploits of our heroes-veterans and those of killed soldiers who heroically fell in the battlefield to bring about the victory in the war against fascism.
“You kept high our people’s dignity, and our fellow citizens; our fathers and grandfathers who died in World War II, are the heroes. We are grateful to you for that,” the Prime Minister said.
The Head of Government stressed that these days the 23th anniversary of Shushi liberation is being marked and the victory of 1945 made it possible to succeed in the struggle for freedom of Artsakh, as well as the education of the generations of today’s heroes.
The Prime Minister noted that the President of the Republic of Armenia and the Government are doing everything to ease the concerns of veterans, namely the Government gas passed a regulation to double the amount of veterans’ honorary fee. At the same time, the authorities ar addressing issues related to their treatment and rest.
“We can hardly pay off the debt we owe you for your dedication, military and labor feats, and whatever we do for you will not be enough,” Hovik Abrahamyan noted, reiterating his congratulations and wishing the veterans good health and long life.
Thanking the Premier for awarding the Medal of 70th Anniversary of Victory in Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, the veterans said to be touched by the authorities’ thoughtfulness in doubling the amount the veterans’ honorary payment.
