PM, wine-makers discuss wine industry development prospects
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited today Proshyan brandy factory.
The Head of Government toured the factory getting acquainted with the production facilities, exports, ongoing projects and development prospects. After the tour, the Prime Minister chaired a consultative meeting to discuss wine industry development prospects and possibilities. In attendance were representatives from domestic wineries.
Welcoming the meeting, the Premier highlighted the importance of similar consultations as they help identify problems and come to mutually acceptable solutions.
“Keen on developing wine and brandy-making industries in the country and increasing the exports, the Government is prepared to possibly support any reasonable initiative,” the Prime Minister noted.
The wine industry representatives thanked the Government for support and introduced their concerns. In particular, they pointed to the need for simplified tax and customs administration and improved legal framework. The speakers addressed issues related to purveyances, the growing of new grapes species, overseas exhibitions and other topical problems.
Summing up the discussion, the Premier said he would be consistent in solving the problems raised by businesses and removing the existing bottlenecks. Hovik Abrahamyan gave relevant instructions to the agencies responsible. The Prime Minister urged the farmers to submit their suggestions and recommendations to the Ministry of Agriculture and actively cooperate with the ministries concerned.
