PM Hovik Abrahamyan Meets with Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Dominik Duka in Prague
On June 3, the last day of his official visit to the Czech Republic, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan met with Archbishop of Prague, Cardinal Dominik Duka at the Archbishop’s Palace.
Thankful for a warm reception, Hovik Abrahamyan hailed the deepening of friendly relations between Armenia and the Czech Republic and in this context, stressed the importance of cooperation between the Armenian Apostolic Church and the Czech Catholic Church.
The Prime Minister appreciated the fact that the Czech Catholic Church offers the Cathedral of Saint Gilles at the center of Prague for Armenian services and prayers and expressed gratitude to the Cardinal for the assistance provided in the process of recognition of the Armenian Genocide in the Czech Republic and in the organization of events dedicated to the Genocide Centenary.
Welcoming Hovik Abrahamyan, Cardinal Duka expressed high appreciation of the Armenian Prime Minister’s official visit to the Czech Republic and noted its importance in the context of strengthening and deepening of the Armenian-Czech friendship. He said he was honored to receive the representatives of one of the most ancient nations of the world who were the first to adopt Christianity as a state religion. The cardinal noted that invaluable is the contribution of the Armenian people to the world’s spiritual and cultural heritage.
During the meeting, the interlocutors took the opportunity to discuss other issues, including regional ones.
