PM Hovik Abrahamyan Attends Eurasian Intergovernmental Council Meeting
On a working visit to Kazakhstan, the Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan-led government delegation attended today the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. At the meeting, speeches were made by the Prime Ministers of EAEC-Member States.
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted in his speech that during the year that has passed since the signing of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, the implementation of decisions and agreements has shown that all the parties have the willingness to deepen the integration process.
According to Hovik Abrahamyan, close economic relations, investment and technological communication should contribute to the modernization of the economies of the member states and enhance their competitiveness.
The Armenian Prime Minister touched on a number of issues on the agenda, presenting his views and suggestions. The Prime Minister presented his approach to the prospects of expansion of cooperation.
During the meeting, the heads of government reviewed about two dozen issues related to the development of cooperation in the framework of the EAEC. The meeting resulted in the signing and approval a number of documents relating to the interaction between the member states in various sectors of the economy. In particular, the meeting endorsed the Action Plan for the development of light industry, which aims to promote the production of competitive products through the use of a toolkit of mutually beneficial industrial cooperation.
The meeting approved the concept on the creation of conditions for the development of agricultural machinery and equipment in Member States. The heads of government discussed a number of draft documents, the adoption of which is stipulated by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in September in Belarus.
At the end of the meeting, a ceremony of extinguishing commemorative stamps dedicated to the creation of the Eurasian Economic Union was held.
In conclusion, the heads of government of Member States held a meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung of Vietnam, after which an agreement was signed on free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
