PM Welcomes IMF Middle East, Central Asia Department Director
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received International Monetary Fund (IMF) Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Masud Ahmed. The meeting was also attended by IMF Armenia Mission Head Mark Horton and IMF Resident Representative in Armenia Teresa Daban Sanchez.
Appreciating the role played by the IMF in the economic development of our country, Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the need to further expand and deepen bilateral cooperation. Hovik Abrahamyan said that cooperation with the IMF positively affects Armenia’s monetary policy. It also helps improve the business environment and attract new investment in various sectors of the economy.
In turn, Masud Ahmed said that considering those numerous economic and geopolitical challenges faced by Armenia, the IMF is prepared to provide the necessary assistance to the Government. In this context, he highlighted the importance of promoting and attracting new investment projects.
During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral cooperation, the Government’s priorities, tax and customs administration, as well as a number of other issues of mutual interest.
