On USA Independence Day, PM Visits U.S. Embassy in Armenia
On USA Independence Day, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited today the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. The Head of Government congratulated Ambassador Richard Mills, the Embassy staff and the friendly people of the Unites States on the 239th anniversary of USA independence.
In his congratulatory remarks Hovik Abrahamyan stated in part, “On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Armenia and myself, I an congratulating you, Mr. Ambassador, the Embassy staff and the people of the Unites States on your country’s Independence Day. On national holidays like this, any nation looks back at past events and history. The American people can be proud of their achievements in the field of democracy and human rights, economy, science and research, culture and other fields.
Highly appreciative of our friendship with the United States, we are pleased that through joint effort, we have elevated bilateral partnership to a qualitatively new level. The Government of Armenia attaches great importance to the deepening of USA-Armenia multifaceted cooperation and the U.S. Government’s assistance with the ongoing reforms and democracy in Armenia. We are grateful to the Government and the people of the United States for invaluable humanitarian and technical assistance provided since Armenia’s independence.
This year bilateral relations were marked by the signing of a visa facilitation arrangement between the two countries, the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) and the Vorotan HPP Complex sale contract. Signed by Contour Global Inc., the latter ushered in the entry of the U.S. capital into Armenia’s market, and we are hopeful that it will set an example for other companies as well.
In this context, I would like to highlight the role of the U.S.-Armenian Commission on Economic Affairs in terms of outlining new prospects of cooperation.
Hailing the United States’ continued commitment as a OSCE Minsk Group co-chair, we look forth to Mediators’ continued efforts towards ensuring sustainable and everlasting peace in the South Caucasus.
Taking this opportunity, I would like to congratulate our U.S.-based compatriots who not only contribute to the United States’ political, economic and cultural life, but also act as a reliable bridge between Armenia and the United States.
In conclusion, reiterating my Independence Day felicitations, Mr Ambassador, I extend to you and all the people of the United States my best wishes for peace and prosperity.
