Armenian-French Economic Cooperation Discussed
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier, Chairman of the Armenian-French Chamber of Commerce Stepan Barakyan and the heads of several French companies operating in Armenia.
Highly appreciative of the Armenian-French cooperation in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres, Prime Minister Abrahamyan said it is based on a solid foundation. Stressing the need for furthering and expanding bilateral economic relations, Hovik Abrahamyan noted that it has great potential for development.
In this context, the Premier deemed it necessary to reinvigorate the activities of the Armenian-French Chamber of Commerce, adding that the Government of Armenia is ready to promote business relations between the two countries and implement investment projects.
Ambassador Charpentier considered it important to further develop the Armenian-French economic and trade relations. In this context, he said to be in touch with the executives of Armenia-based French companies. Steps were said underway to attract new French companies into Armenia’s home market. In particular, Mr Charpentier said that a number of French companies are interested in making investments in infrastructure, urban development and healthcare in Armenia. The Ambassador advised that efforts are being made to organize an Armenian-French business forum early next year that may help deepen and expand economic ties between the two countries.
The Prime Minister of Armenia thanked the Ambassador for close cooperation and expressed confidence that the joint efforts will lead to tangible results.
The meeting agenda comprised items related to the implementation of the agreements reached between the two Governments, as well as other issues bearing on the activities and future plans of French companies in Armenia.
