Government Commission Established on Demise of Vardouhi Varderesyan Holds Meeting
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the government commission, established on the passing of ASSR and USSR People’s Artist Vardouhi Varderesyan, met today in the Office of Government. To begin with, the meeting observed a minute of silence in memory of Vardouhi Varderesyan.
In his condolence remarks, Hovik Abrahamyan said, “ASSR and USSR People’s Artist, holder of Movses Khorenatsi medal and Mesrop Mashtots order, honorary citizen of Yerevan, Gabriel Sundukyan theater actress Vardouhi Varderesyan was an emblematic figure - the queen and the unrivalled John of the Armenian theatrical art. She was an outstanding actress. Engaged in 57-year-long stage activities, Vardouhi Varderesyan managed to create countless artistic characters, earning the audience’s love and reverence. We discussed with the President of the Republic of Armenia and decided that the great actress should rest in the Pantheon after Komitas.”
The meeting decided that a funeral service will be held on November 26, 18:00-20:00 local time at the Church of St. Hovhannes in Kond. Last farewell will be bid on November 27, 12:00-14:00 in Sundukyan Theater. The burial ceremony will take place on the same day in the Pantheon after Komitas.
