Prime Minister Receives Russian Minister of Transport
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received today Russian co-chair of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, RF Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov. Discussed were issues related to bilateral economic cooperation. In this regard, the parties hailed the activities of the Armenian-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
Stating that the recommendations of the 16th session of the Commission had been complied with successfully, the parties decided that the Commission’s forthcoming meeting would be held next July in St. Petersburg.
In the context of trade and economic relations, the sides discussed the prospects of implementation of infrastructure projects of regional significance. Highlighting the importance of the Armenia-Iran railroad project, the Russian side expressed willingness to explore the possibility of their involvement in the project.
Mindful of the need to speed up the process of customs clearance of goods and vehicles at Upper Lars border checkpoint, the parties considered several options for resolving the matter.
