PM Welcomes President of European Conservatives and Reformists Alliance
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan received President of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists Jan Zahradil.
The Premier stressed the importance for Armenian political parties to cooperate with the European Conservatives and Reformists Alliance. As to the development and strengthening of Armenia’s relations with the European Union, the Prime Minister said our country ready to push ahead with the EU-Armenia cooperation on issues of mutual interest.
Hovik Abrahamyan attached importance to the furtherance of ties between the National Assembly of Armenia and the European Parliament, adding that inter-parliamentary cooperation is a good platform to discuss deepening and expansion of EU-Armenia relations.
Thankful for a warm reception, Jan Zahradil noted that the European Conservatives and Reformists Alliance is keen on developing and deepening inter-party cooperation in order to enhance and strengthen relations between the Republic of Armenia and the European Union.
The sides next discussed a number of issues of mutual interest. Touching upon the NK conflict, Hovik Abrahamyan noted that Azerbaijan continues along the lines of its destructive policy through regular violations of ceasefire, as well as by advocating different resolutions aimed at undermining the talks underway in the OSCE Minsk Group format. In this context, Hovik Abrahamyan once again stressed that Armenia sees the settlement of the conflict through peaceful negotiations within the framework of the ongoing process as mediated by the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs.
In turn, the President of the Alliance of European Conservatives and Reformists stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict should only be resolved through peaceful means, noting that he was against the attempts to take the issue onto international platforms and advocate the adoption of unilateral resolutions.
During the meeting Hovik Abrahamyan and Jan Zahradil also discussed issues related to regional developments.
