State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee Submits Performance Report
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the Cabinet discussed today the 2015 performance report delivered by Head of State Nuclear Safety Regulatory Committee Ashot Martirosyan, which covered the Committee’s key activities, the fulfillment of the Government’s action plan, priority tasks and estimated performance.
The Committee was said to have developed and submitted a draft government decision “On approval of rules for physical protection of radioactive materials and devices containing radioactive materials.”
The decision sets out the physical protection system requirements for the physical protection of radioactive materials and devices containing radioactive materials, the levels of physical protection according to threat assessment, as well as other issues related to the prevention of accidents, illegal circulation of nuclear materials and theft or other unlawful possession of related to possible dangers. Ashot Martirosyan also referred to the operation and repair of the second nuclear reactor.
Satisfied with the Committee’s performance, Prime Minister Abrahamyan prioritized the work on NPP refurbishment and called for a quality focus.
