Cabinet Reviews Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs 2015 Performance Report
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, the Government today discussed the report of the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs of the major works carried out in 2015, implementation of the program of activities and priority tasks of the Government of the Republic of Armenia in 2015
Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Gabriel Ghazaryan reported on the work carried out during the year his agency. There were developed and approved by the Government a number of draft regulations: “On ensuring property youth sports schools, national sports federations and other public sports Armenian organizations,” “On approval of payment of rates and allowances for officials, teachers and coaches management personnel youth sports schools financed from the state budget” and “On approval of provisions on the institution of a youth worker.”
As part of the program to enhance the role of physical education and sport among children of preschool and school-age programs have been developed mass sports event Sportlandia-2015, which include 6 team sports. The event was carried out in 3 stages including pre-school children and pupils of 5-6 classes of all the regions of Armenia and Artsakh. Overall, it was attended by 4536 children of preschool age and pupils.
The Ministry continued to carry out under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Armenia work under the program of social housing construction. It approved and implemented a number of programs aimed at encouraging the development of youth policy and the participation process, as well as training of representatives of non-governmental organizations dealing with young people and public authorities.
Commenting on the report, the Premier praised the work of the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs in 2015, calling for a more active work. The Prime Minister instructed the Ministry to periodically visit all the regions of Armenia in order to intensify contacts with the representatives of the sphere of sport and youth in the regions and continuously work towards increasing their involvement in various programs.
