Today a consultative meeting has been held with RA Minister of Territorial Administration Hovik Abrahamyan on issues relating to urban development and land use in Sevan National Park and adjacent territories. The meeting was attended by Adviser to RA Prime Minister G. Martirosyan, RA Ministers of Nature Protection and Urban Development, head of the State Committee on Immovable Property Cadastre by the Government, Governor of Gegharkounik Marz, Mayors of Sevan, Martouni, Vardenis towns, as well as other concerned officials.
It was reported that the architectural aspect of the local environment had been altered to an inadmissible extent due to urban development and illegal land use activities carried out over the recent months against a background of administrative laxity in Sevan National Park and adjacent territories.
It was noted that the findings of the recent study carried out by the President-decreed interagency commission revealed that 43 of the 77 facilities registered in Varser, Sevan, Tsovagukh communities and in the zone next to Yerevan-Sevan highway had no authorization for installation, 32 units were below the mark of 1908m. As a result, 36 facilities were dismantled. Nevertheless, the situation was said far from being satisfactory as the number of illegal constructions was increasingly growing. Such approaches are inadmissible in the light of the policy line pursued by the government for the development of Sevan Lake basin and neighboring regions.
In view of the above, appropriate assignments were given to competent authorities in terms of defining the responsibilities in the manner established by law, developing a program of action and proceeding with its implementation.
