Forest Restoration and Development Fund 2016 Programs Discussed In Government
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan chaired a regular meeting of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Forest Restoration and Development Fund (FRDF).
In accordance with the agenda, the meeting discussed the fund’s activities and financial reports for 2015. FRDF Executive Director Yuri Javadyan reported back the work done in the reporting year, the development and implementation of forest rehabilitation and development programs, as well as the acquisition, management and effective use of financial resources.
The Board of Trustees approved the submitted reports. The BOT next approved the Fund’s staffing and administrative budget for the year 2016. Then Yuri Javadyan introduced the Fund’s action plan for 2016.
The Executive Director said in particular that preparation work is going to be done on Lake Sevan adjacent 10-hectare reforestation areas. In addition, fencing and reforestation work will be carried out on 100 hectares in Hrazdan forestry.
The meeting also discussed issues concerning the protection of woodlands and the creation of new forests. The Premier stressed the importance of continuity and consistency in conservation and reforestation efforts.
