PM Gets Acquainted with Reconstructed Hematology Center Activities
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan visited the Hematology Center by the Ministry of Healthcare after R.Yeolyan. The Premier toured the newly built premises getting acquainted with the ongoing construction work for the seven-story medical building and the progress of construction of a new three-storey building. The Prime Minister was briefed on the activities aimed at modernizing the Hematology Center, the process of setting up a department for bone marrow transplantation and stem cell laboratory of regional significance.
The Head of Government was told that with funding available under the World Bank’s “Prevention and control of diseases” program, interior decorations, installation of engineering systems and external casings are being implemented at this point of time. Work on supply of medical equipment, furniture and accessories will start over the next couple of months.
It was reported that the new three-storey facility, which was built on the site of the old two-storey diagnostic center, will host international standards-compliant laboratory of regional importance for collection, processing and storage of stem cells. The lab will be operational in accordance with ISO and GMP standards. The Hematology Center will have 88 beds and a yearly capacity of 75 transplantations.
To provide comprehensive services, training courses will be organized for the Center’s medical personnel involving international and local experts.
Highly appreciative of the establishment of a unique regional center, Prime Minister Abrahamyan expressed satisfaction at the fact that the borrowed funds had been used efficiently providing for high-quality construction work.
