Minister-Chief of Government Staff Meets with Director General of Universal Postal Union


Minister-Chief of Government Staff David Haroutunyan met today with a delegation led by Director General of the Universal Postal Union Bishar Abdirahim Husseini, who is in Yerevan to attend the European Public Postal Operators (PostEurop) Association’s 31st plenary session. Note that this is PostEurop’s first-ever plenary session held in the Caucasian region, which is hosted by Armenia’s national postal operator Haypost.

David Haroutunyan highly appreciated the ongoing cooperation between Armenia and the Universal Postal Union as it promotes the postal services sector. As he said, the Government of Armenia has been implementing continued improvements in this area, which are aimed at facilitating access to postal services, introducing modern technologies and developing e-governance.

Highlighting the importance of holding his organization’s plenary session in Yerevan, Bishar Abdirahim Husseini said it is a good platform for promoting international cooperation and exchanging know-how in the field of postal communications. The Director General of the Universal Postal Union praised the quality of postal services delivered in Armenia, noting that he was impressed by Armenia’s progress in the sphere of postal services and its development programs.

The meeting nest focused on exchange of experience in the field of postal services and issues related to the expansion of cooperation.

The parties highlighted, in particular, the development of cooperation in the field of financial services and e-government. The Minister-Chief of Government Staff advised that Armenia is taking steps to improve the legislative framework, and a relevant bill is now under consideration.
