Prime Minister Visits Shirak Marz
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan paid today a working visit to Shirak Marz. The Prime Minister first visited the Gyumri branch of the Yerevan State Academy of Arts, State Conservatory after Komitas, the State Institute of Theatre and Cinema. The Prime Minister went around schools, familiarized with the process of organizing training, educational programs, met with applicants and wished them success in the entrance examinations.
In Gyumri, the Prime Minister visited the facilities provided to in Sassteks Company with the government’s support to engage production company textiles where currently construction work is underway. The Company representatives presented the Prime Minister the progress of work on the building and was informed that the construction work on the buildings provided by the company will be completed in the coming months. 4 million euros was invested in order to implement the program in the factory it will create about 400 new jobs. At the moment, 80 people are involved in the construction work. All the company’s products will be exported to European countries. In addition, it was reported that textile manufacturing factory will be in commissioned in Shirak Marz with 10 branches, one of which is already in force in Amasia. In each of the branches it is planned to create around 100 jobs.
In an interview with reporters, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan noted that the purpose of his visit to Shirak Marz was to once identify the existing problems in the region and to solve them gradually.
The Prime Minister noted that Shirak Marz is the focus of the RA President and the Government and added that the government will implement the planned program, creating new jobs. The Prime Minister informed that on the initiative of the President of Armenia will be granted 23 million euros for the implementation of works in Gyumri, asphalting, lighting and landscaping maintenance.
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan a consultation was held in Shirak regional administration. Minister of Education and Science Levon Mkrtchyan presented the proposal for the efficient organization of education in high schools operating in Gyumri. During the meeting, the rectors of universities presented their suggestions and comments on the issues discussed, the sides exchanged views.
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan stressed the importance of effective and quality education organizations and instructed the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia to continue discussions around the issue and submit relevant proposals. In Gyumri Hovik Abrahamyan visited the house-museum of the sculptor Sergey Merkurov, got acquainted with the exhibits presented. For the purpose of overhaul of the RA state budget allocated for the museum houses 35 million drams. It is planned to complete the work in October-November this year.
Coming to Akhuryan community, Prime Minister Abrahamyan visited the construction site of a residential house under construction. It was reported that the construction work will be completed at the end of the year. In order to implement the program from the state budget allocated 800 million drams. As a result, the new home will celebrate 104 families. The Prime Minister instructed the responsible persons to carry out construction works with high quality and on time. During the visit Hovik Abrahamyan visited the reservoir, which has been completely filled for the first time in recent years.
The Prime Minister was informed that as of this point the reservoir contains 540 million cubic meters of water that will enable irrigation of about 30,000 hectares of land in Armavir and Aragatsotn Marzes accounting for 25 percent of total irrigated land area in Armenia.
