PM Chairs Consultation over Situation in Artik and Upper Lars
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, a consultative meeting was held in the Office of Government to discuss the results of a preliminary study of damage caused by the June 24 flood in Artik town of Shirak Marz. Rehabilitation work was said underway with a view to coping with the consequences of the flooding. The Premier instructed to start the process of providing compensation for the affected residents of Artik and call in the necessary capacity to complete the relief activities.
The meeting decided to carry out work in two phases. In the first phase, funds will be allocated to address the problems requiring urgent solutions. The second phase implies a comprehensive survey of the disaster zone and necessary follow-up action.
Minister of Emergency Situations Armen Yeritsyan next reported on the operational situation on the road leading to the Upper Lars border checkpoint. Noting that he had been in close touch with his Georgian colleagues, Mr Yeritsyan advised that the Georgian side was implementing large-scale reconstruction work on the affected road section.
