Prime Minister Visits Artik, Ohanavan and Karbi communities

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan paid a working visit to Shirak and Aragatsotn Marzes of Armenia.

The Premier first visited Artik town, where he was briefed on the work done since his latest visit to offset the damage caused by the flood. Hovik Abrahamyan called at the flood-stricken apartments, talked to the residents, took note of their concerns and answered their questions.

Thankful for consistent support of the efforts aimed at coping with the aftermath of the disaster, the residents of Artik said all necessary activities had been carried out in a timely manner. Note that based on the findings of a relevant study, the necessary amounts were earmarked to address the problems calling for immediate intervention, including the reimbursement of losses suffered by citizens, as well as to restore the drains affected by the flood.

Addressing journalists, Prime Minister Abrahamyan noted that the drain restoration process was proceeding successfully, and considerable work had been done so far. Hovik Abrahamyan said that the assistance provided to the affected residents of Artik would be reconsidered based on new estimates submitted by the Commission.

He noted that the Government had already allocated 41 million drams along with extra funds available from the Town Hall and some public agencies. Regarding the illegal facility built on the drain, the Head of Government said it had impeded the flow of water and, therefore, a relevant decision was due in this connection.

The Prime Minister next called at the hailstorm-hit Ohanavan community in Aragatsotn Marz, where he estimated the damages caused by heavy hail, talked to the farmers, listened to their concerns and problems.

The Prime Minister instructed the heads of relevant government departments to assess the damage as shortly as possible, after which the Government might consider the possibilities and options for assisting the affected farmers.
