Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received Mr. Karen Mikayelyan, editor-in-chief of "Armianski Vestnik" and "Grazhdanin" monthlies published in Moscow.
In prioritizing the establishment of closer ties of cooperation between different sections of Armenians living all over the world in pursuance of our shared national goals and for the strengthening of the Armenian statehood, Mr. Karen Mikayelyan forwarded to the Prime Minister the program of activities of the initiative group for the organization of the 3rd Congress of Western Armenians to be held in Paris. He mentioned that the previous two congresses were held at Yerevan in 1917 and 1919 (the latter was suspended and continued in Paris in 1920) and the upcoming congress, as a matter of fact, was supposed to uphold the cause of consolidating Armenians worldwide for the sake of our national statehood.
In welcoming this idea, Mr. A. Margaryan expressed his appreciation of recent work done by Mr. Mikayelyan, including his Soviet-era services as a UN officer, his 1994-1996 activities as acting president of the Armenian Committee for the Development of Ties with the Diaspora and his current services in the post of editor-in-chief of Moscow-based "Armianski Vestnik" and "Grazhdanin" monthlies. Among the items under discussion, the Prime Minister singled out the collection entitled "All-Armenian Consultations (1912-1920)",as published in Yerevan through the efforts of Mr. Mikayelyan, which summarized the documents and materials relevant to pan-Armenian fora held in the period under review.
