PM Receives Brandy, Wine Producers’ Representatives
Chaired by Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, a consultative meeting was held with brandy, wine producers’ representatives in the Office of Government.
The meeting discussed grapes procurement and prospects for the development of wine-making industry. Reporting on the procurement process, Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan said his Ministry is working with processing companies to ensure smooth procurement of grapes.
The representatives of brandy and wine producing companies spoke about their concerns regarding credit and tax rates, export-related problems, simplification of tax and customs procedures and the need to streamline the regulatory framework.
Prime Minister Abrahamyan noted the importance of close cooperation between the Government and the private sector in order to increase production and exports. The Premier urged all stakeholders to organize properly the procurement campaign to prevent the farmers from having any unnecessary problems.
Hovik Abrahamyan assured that the Government is prepared to assist the farmers and the purchasing entities, if necessary. “Our task is to assist the procurement agencies so that they could purchase as many grapes as possible without creating problems for the farmers,” Hovik Abrahamyan emphasized.
