PM Sends Condolences on Passing of Matenadaran Director Hrachya Tamrazyan
Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan sent a condolence message on the demise of Director of Matenadaran, Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, corresponding member of National Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Philology Hrachya Tamrazyan.
“Hrachya Tamrazyan was one of the most renowned intellectuals of our day. He was a prominent scholar, poet and translator. He made a significant contribution to the study of medieval Armenian philosophy and, especially, the literary legacy of Narekatsi. Hrachya Tamrazyan is famous for his fruitful activity as a distinguished translator.
As director of Matenadaran, Hrachya Tamrazyan added a special value to the activities of this unique research and cultural center – the world’s oldest depository of manuscripts. I express deep sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of the deceased.”
