The Prime Minister appreciated the work done by former Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Levon Yeolyan, noting that he is sure to be of service with his professional skills and expertise. Introducing newly appointed minister Ashot Manukyan, the Premier pointed out that he is well aware of the industry and is a skilled administrator.

Introducing newly appointed minister Ashot Manukyan, Karen Karapetyan said that he is an experienced manager and well acquainted with the given sector. Stressing that the energy system is one of our country’s well-organized systems, the Prime Minister said to be looking forward to a new concept that might provide for active regional cooperation in the energy market.

“We live in a fairly complex geopolitical environment, but at the same time, we have a fantastic opportunity for regional cooperation; we have excess capacity, which we should use. I also expect you to take an active part in the formation of new tariff methodology. We may resort to some economics-induced steps that many people will not understand, but our task is to be close to the vulnerable layers, to encourage and support through tariff policy some business sectors that can be developed and, finally, give added value and, at the same time, expand our markets.”

The Prime Minister drew attention to the high-voltage power grid management system, emphasizing that there is a need for qualitatively changes aimed at increased efficiency.
