Karen Karapetyan, Eduardo Eurnekian Discuss Expansion of Cooperation


Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received today Argentinean entrepreneur, philanthropist of Armenian origin Eduardo Eurnekian.

Appreciating Eduardo Eurnekian’s activities in our country, the Prime Minister said him to be one of the largest and most successful investors in the Armenian economy, and that the Government is ready to carry on the ongoing fruitful cooperation.

Karen Karapetyan and Eduardo Eurnekian exchanged views on the pace of joint projects, as well as the prospects for implementing new projects in different fields of activity. In particular, the sides discussed issues related to the investment programs of construction of solar power stations in Armavir Marz of Armenia, construction of Meghri hydroelectric power plant, development of infrastructures of Zvartnots airport in Yerevan and Shirak airport in Gyumri, as well as the promotion of tourism and the refurbishment of the former building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Introducing the steps undertaken in a bid to develop Armenia’s economy, the Prime Minister said the Government is creating a Center for Strategic Initiatives, which will serve as a platform for implementation of joint programs in the framework of cooperation between the State and the private sector. Karen Karapetyan noted that the Government attaches great importance to the feedback received from investors, entrepreneurs and is open to discuss issues of mutual interest and the formation of a business-friendly environment in the country.

Welcoming the reforms initiated by the Government, Mr Eurnekian said he would continue to implement investment programs in Armenia and, at the same time, expressed readiness to participate in the activities of the Center for Strategic Initiatives through his representative.
