“We are always open and ready to assist you” – Prime Minister meets with the representatives of ethnic minorities
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received the representatives of ethnic minorities. Welcoming the guests, the Premier noted that that the appointment was arranged to listen to the problems of ethnic minorities, discuss issues related to bilateral cooperation and how the government could support them ahead.
During the exchange of views that followed, reference was made to the socio-economic situation of ethnic minorities, the need to improve community infrastructure and school buildings, organize training and refresher courses for teachers, increase the number of State-funded seats in universities and TV broadcasts in minority languages etc.
The representatives of ethnic minorities said to be widely involved in our country’s educational, cultural and social events of regional and national importance. The guests noted with satisfaction that their educational and cultural centers were operating successfully in Armenia, which is a major asset in terms of preserving their language, culture and traditions.
Summarizing the meeting, Prime Minister Karapetyan stated in part, “First of all, I will be very satisfied with my work, if I can help you keep your ethnic identity and develop your national culture. Secondly, in welfare-related matters, I will always treat you as citizens of the Republic of Armenia, because any settlement must have water, gas, etc, no matter who are its residents. In this respect, you may rest assured that we are always open and ready to assist you.”
