PM discusses new development plans with the leaders of those communities having recorded increased revenue

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan met with 12 community leaders from various regions of Armenia who ensured increase in own revenue in 2016 and are going to provide for the same in 2017. The meeting was attended by the heads of Abovyan, Aygehovit, Basen, Vahan, Akhuryan, Sarapat, Urtsadzor, Amasia, Tegh, Meghri and Zaritap communities.

Prime Minister Karapetyan noted that the 12 selected communities have earned the government’s confidence as they boast a satisfactory rate of growth of local revenue. “We wish to discuss with you community development programs, including your expectations of the Government, namely how we can keep you enthusiastic and in full activity,” Karen Karapetyan said, adding that the Government will henceforth use a new methodology and resort to in-depth analysis while working with Marz governors and community leaders.

“I understand that our farmers are not at all well off, but we must enforce discipline in communities, towns and the State, as a whole. If you are to develop your community, you will have to fulfill your responsibilities,” the Premier emphasized.

The community leaders in attendance presented projects for infrastructure improvement, energy-saving lighting, introduction of electronic management systems, food processing, and production of furnaces, as well as specific livestock development programs that can generate several jobs and provide economic results.

Karen Karapetyan instructed those responsible to explore the projects and provide necessary support. “We must be looking for highly performing projects and move forward by solving specific problems,” the Prime Minister said.
