“Challenges oblige us to be smart and educated” - Karen Karapetyan hands in scholarship certificates

The Armenia Youth Foundation (AYF) provided 745 university students with tuition reimbursement certificates. Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan handed today the certificates to the students. Note that the AYF is supported by the Government of the Republic of Armenia in implementing the undergraduate tuition reimbursement program for first-year students from State universities.

The competition resulted in reimbursements offered to students from needy households, families with third-group disabilities or residing in border communities, as well as to students with excellent academic performance and social activism. The eligibility list featured 11 students having been on combat duty during army service, as well as 5 students who had participated in the four-day April war. The program involves students from Marz-based universities.

Congratulating the beneficiaries, the Premier evoked his government’s activities, noting that the Cabinet had carried out an in-depth and all-round diagnosis of existing problems in a bid to have a vision of steps to take.

“The horizon we have set ourselves is quite ambitious. We are confident that after a while we will have a country to be proud of. Regional challenges oblige us to be smart and educated,” Karen Karapetyan emphasized.

The Head of Government said he wanted students to keep getting knowledge and professional skills, and thereby motivate others. He noted that the Government had developed ways of boosting the economy. We have quite a large mass of educated people, but we remain unsatisfied with their efficiency. Therefore, our chief objective and imperative is to build a modern system of higher education, capable of responding to market trends. In this regard, I am eager to see you hold tight and spread your want of knowledge like an infection. I want you to be true patriots, fond of your native land,” Karen Karapetyan said, adding that he was keen to see a strong civic stance in youth, tolerance towards each other and intolerance of injustice.

“In fact, we have a unique chance to be mindful of our traditions and history and, at the same time, be open, tolerant and modern. Reiterating my congratulations, I urge you to bold tight, take care of yourself as we need you,” the Prime Minister said.
