Today a meeting of the state commission for the preparation of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian genocide has been held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister A. Margaryan. The commission was presented the report on the progress in the discharge of the tasks given at the previous meeting, following which the program featuring the dates, venues and persons in charge of the key events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian genocide was discussed and approved. The Prime Minister stressed that a special emphasis should be placed on the strength and revival of our people's morale and the re-instatement of the Armenian nationhood, as well as the need in recognizing and condemning genocide internationally as a crime against humanity in order to prevent it in future.
In accordance with the program, on April 21 and 22, 2005, an international symposium on the Armenian genocide and the protection of human rights is due to be held at the National Academy of Sciences referred to as "The 21st Century without Genocides,"which will be preceeded by another symposium dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian genocide.
Under the established program, numerous events of different nature will be held all over the country and beyond its boundaries in the course of the year, including the NKR and the Armenian Diaspora.
The meeting has also approved the list of construction work and improvements to be carried out by Yerevan municipality and Kentron district administration in Tsitsernakaberd park and at the Memorial Complex of Genocide Victims on the occasion of the anniversary, as well as the scenarios and estimates of expenditure of the projected events.
