Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan’s Message on Victory and Peace Day
Dear compatriots,
We are celebrating today Victory and Peace Day and the 25th anniversary of Shushi liberation. Our victories are the most memorable dates of our annals, which inspire the young generations to new achievements.
On the way to the glorious victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Armenian people made a valuable contribution by fighting against the enemy and leaving numerous examples of invincibility to future generations.
The assertion of victory and peace has always been appreciated and was reinterpreted in a new way by the Armenian people after the liberation of Shushi. This double holiday symbolizes our people’s indomitable will and aspiration to protect their dignity, their security and move forward.
In the war that was imposed on us, the Armenian people proved that they were ready to take up arms and defend their right to live freely, independently and peacefully. I have stated already and now I will repeat: Artsakh is the point where the question of our nation’s dignity is being decided. We desperately owe it a lot to our soldiers and officers. Their dedication obliges us to build on the gains of victory through daily work, ensure the nation’s security and move forward with optimism, striving to fulfill our dream.
We bow our heads before all the heroes of victory - soldiers, freedom-fighters, veterans – and express our gratitude to all those heroic sons of the Armenian people who bequeathed to us dedication and heroism. Reiterating my congratulations, I wish all of us peace, prosperity and new achievements.
