Today the commission on priority housing program for earthquake-hit homeless households in rural settlements of Lori and Shirak marzes, as well as for refugee families displaced from Azerbaijan has met at the Office of Government, presided at by commission chairman, RA Minister of Territorial Administration Hovik Abrahamyan.


The meeting discussed the reports submitted by RA Minister of Urban Development and concerned marz governors on the course of implementation of the 2006 State budget-funded priority housing programs for 20 refugee families residing at Yerevan, Moldovakan 71/1, Gyumri-based earthquake-struck homeless families, several refugee households from Azerbaijan currently living in Kotayk marz, as well as the pace of construction of unfinished houses in the rural settlements of Lori and Shirak marzes. It was noted that 2 billion 225 million drams as stipulated in the 2006 State budget were used to complete the construction of 101 unfinished houses in Lori marz and 35 - in Shirak marz. Out of the 875 million drams earmarked under the home procurement program for refugee households, AMD775MN had been allocated to Kotayk marz, with the balance of AMD100MN paid out to 20 families domiciled at Moldovakan 71/1. 875 million drams had been funneled towards the implementation of the program component providing for procurement of housing for the earthquake-hit families in Gyumri.


As a whole, the progress was assessed to be satisfactory by the commission. At the close of the meeting, relevant instructions were given to all public agencies concerned in order to concretize the items discussed and expedite the process at hand.
