Karen Karapetyan Welcomes President of World Information Technology and Services Alliance
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received today President of the World Information Technology and Services Alliance Ms. Yvonne Chiu.
Stressing the importance of holding a world conference on information technology in Armenia in 2019, the Prime Minister said the Government will make every effort to organize the conference at the highest possible level.
“We are confident that the forum will help develop Armenia’s IT sector and boost the implementation of the existing potential. We will be preparing for the forum with a sense of great responsibility,” Karen Karapetyan noted.
Stressing that the IT sector is the center of his government’s attention, the Prime Minister advised that it has been recording an annual growth of 20-25% in recent years, while the growth potential is much greater. Karen Karapetyan highlighted the development of technological education in our country, noting that the State is taking steps to that effect in the schools and the university system.
Yvonne Chiu said that the upcoming conference will be held under the motto of “Keeping the promise of the digital age” and added that the World Information Technology and Services Alliance seeks to make digital technology available worldwide. Convinced that the 2019 conference will add momentum to the progress in the IT sector, Ms. Chiu assured of her organization’s willingness to closely cooperate with the Government of Armenia.
