Karen Karapetyan, Alexey Miller Discuss Cooperation Status and Development Prospects
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom Russian energy company.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the ongoing cooperation with Gazprom and the joint projects aimed at developing the energy sector in Armenia. Noting that Gazprom Armenia is a reliable partner, Karen Karapetyan said Armenia’s energy security is enhanced and uninterrupted gas supply, several major investment and social programs are being implemented thanks to the efforts and readiness of Gazprom’s leadership.
Alexey Miller congratulated Karen Karapetyan on his re-appointment as Prime Minister and wished him productive work. He said Gazprom is Armenia’s reliable partner. The volume of gas supply in Armenia recorded a relative growth in 2017. On behalf of the Board of Gazprom, Alexey Miller assured that his company will continue to implement all the proposed tasks in the field of Armenia’s energy development, formation of a reliable gas supply system, increasing the gasification level, as well as social programs.
The parties discussed issues relating to bilateral cooperation, investment programs, development prospects, as well as Gazprom’s activities.
In particular, reference was made to the operations of the 5th power unit of Hrazdan TPP and Abovyan underground gas storage station, the construction of a multifunctional training complex, other joint cooperation programs and a number of issues high on the cooperation agenda.
The interlocutors reaffirmed their readiness to further develop the productive cooperation and intensify it with new programs.

The Company also carries natural gas imports, distribution and sale of gas. Gazprom is responsible for the reconstruction and overhaul of our country’s gas transportation system and an underground storage station.
Armenia’s Gas Supply and Gasification Master Plan for 2018-2019 provides for the construction of the new pressure station in Abovyan, as well as the renovation and expansion of the existing pipelines and gas distribution systems.
