Prime Minister: Upward trends can be seen in construction, and I am convinced that we are in for progress in this field

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan attended today a festive event dedicated to Builder’s Day

Addressing the event, the Premier noted that by reinstating the Builder’s Day as one of our nation’s traditional holidays, the Republic of Armenia reaffirmed that construction has been and remains one of the key and pivotal spheres of our economy.

“It is a well-known fact that construction is the driving force behind economic activity in our country. Construction has a multiplier effect for any country's economy. It has a positive impact on the development of other sectors. Any State with advanced construction is progressing. Our ancestors have left us an exceptional heritage which we are proud of as we maintain and represent it to the world and the raising generations. It is a great pleasure to see that the Armenian builders are developing the expertise and traditions of our past masters by building strong and beautiful buildings with innovative, progressive and safe technologies,” Karen Karapetyan said.

As the Prime Minister said, however statistics suggests that we are in a difficult stage in terms of construction: one thing is evident - Armenian builders have always built and will build new facilities. This has been the case even during hard times for our country. The Premier stressed that the Government is making efforts to boost construction and implement investment projects in the country.

“Many programs have already started in the capital and in the provinces, and in this respect, the statistics we have at the moment is quite encouraging. We are ready to create additional favorable conditions for the builders and for economic development and investment. I want to point out that upward trends can be seen in construction, and I am convinced that we are in for progress in this field,” Karen Karapetyan underscored. The Prime Minister noted that we had two backward sectors in the first six months of this year - construction and agriculture.

“Our forecasts suggest that in October we will come closer to last year’s index in the sphere of construction and will boast some growth by yearend,” the Prime Minister said.

Coming to agriculture, Karen Karapetyan said growth trends had been recorded in the previous month. “We all should be convinced that the Government is closely following the statistical indicators. We are convinced that we are on the right track,” the Head of Government pointed out.

Summing up his speech, the Prime Minister congratulated the builders on their professional holiday, wishing them every success and new achievements.

Karen Karapetyan awarded RA Prime Minister’s commemorative medals to Prime Minister’s Chief Adviser Gagik Martirosyan, Chairman of the Board of Kamurjshin CJSC Vlad Asatryan, Director of Haynakhagits OJSC Grigor Azizyan, Renshin LLC co-founders Arayik Karapetyan and Edward Marutyan. RA Prime Minister’s diplomas were handed to Director of Gapex LLC Robert Gabrielyan, Director of Caritas Italiana CJSC Vardges Babayan, Head of Yerevannakhagits CJSC Unit Supervisor Hovhannes Mehronyan and Director of Mikshin LLC Stepan Khachaturyan.
