Government Discusses Prospects for Development of Public-Private Sector Cooperation Mechanisms
Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan held an enlarged consultative meeting to discuss a draft concept note on the development of public-private sector partnership mechanisms in Armenia. The paper was developed by experts from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in cooperation with the Armenian Center for Strategic Initiatives.
The meeting focused on the legislative mechanisms and instruments of cooperation between the State and the private sector, the basic terms and conditions, the findings of a recent probe into the current situation, the problems faced in this area, the investment risks and guarantees.
The Working Group presented in detail the objectives, the proposed steps and expected results. The speakers pointed out that the paper may provide an institutional basis for public-private partnership in our country in line with the applicable legislative mechanisms.
During the consultation, the representatives of the agencies concerned came up with various proposals and recommendations. Prime Minister Karapetyan suggested finalizing the draft through joint efforts of EBRD experts and Cabinet members.
