PM Karen Karapetyan, Massachusetts Institute of Technology experts discuss Gyumri town development vision

Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan received Hashim Sarkis, Dean of the Department of Architecture and Urban Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Brent Ryan, City Planning Specialist.

The parties focused on their cooperation over the Gyumri town development prospects. The MIT experts said to have arrived at the invitation of the Tumo Center for Creative Technologies in order to get acquainted with the opportunities available in Gyumri and work out innovative approaches to the development of the city.

Karen Karapetyan presented his vision of the development of Gyumri, emphasizing that town has the potential to become one of Armenia’s visiting cards, and it is possible to achieve the desired result through targeted efforts that will change the mood and atmosphere in the city.

Appreciative of MIT representatives’ visit to Armenia, the Premier suggested discussing further steps for joint work with the Armenian Development Fund and the Center for Strategic Initiatives, noting that the Government is ready for effective long-term cooperation.
