Karen Karapetyan and Uzbekistan Prime Minister set to step up intergovernmental relations
Within the framework of his visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Karen Karapetyan met with Abdullah Aripov, the Head of the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the talks, Prime Minister Karapetyan noted that Armenia is interested in boosting interstate relations with Uzbekistan. Karen Karapetyan said the two countries should actively develop contacts between business communities, chambers of commerce and industry, and specialized development agencies. In this regard, the importance of setting up an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was emphasized on both sides. The Armenian Premier paid special attention to the prospects for cooperation within the framework of the free economic zone being established on the border with Iran.
As they discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the field of tourism, the Premiers focused on the launch of a direct air service between Yerevan and Tashkent. The parties stressed the need for establishing diplomatic missions.
Karen Karapetyan and Abdullah Aripov agreed to give new impetus to bilateral relations in a bid to build up stronger political and economic ties between the two countries.
The Prime Minister of Armenia is also scheduled to meet with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev later today.
